About Mrs. Haden:
Hello! My name is Shanna Haden. I am married to Paul Haden, II, a special education teacher at Mount Carmel Area School District. We have two lovable, adorable children named Sophia and Eli. I graduated from Bloomsburg University with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in English and Education in May of 2009. I have taught at Mount Carmel Area School District since August 2009. I have completed extensive graduate school work in Adolescent Literacy (Reading Specialization) and 21st Century Technology (Grades 6-12) from Walden University's online courses. I have been awarded numerous educational awards, but the two that I am most proud of are Teacher of the Month for September 2014, and the Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction Award for Outstanding Teaching, 2013. I was also honored with the 2017 Great Teacher Award for my region from WVIA, thanks to the winning essay written by my lovely AP student, Aleah. Thank you so much! I enjoy teaching and engaging students in lessons, placing much emphasis on analysis and technology integration. I have done many distance learning activities with both my 8th grade classes and 11th grade classes with the 12th Armored Memorial Holocaust Museum, and love bringing history alive with the literature we read in class. I am also proud to be the creator and co-advisor for Reading Club at MCA, and believe in promoting a love of reading to all students, grades kindergarten through 12th. My students are a blessing, and I treasure teaching every single day. It has been a great eight years, and I'm looking forward to many more years to come!
I am also the Social Media Liaison for Mount Carmel School Wide Positive Behavior. Check us out on twitter: @MountCarmelSWPB
